Download Your Tour Data

Detailed guide to download your tour data to host and connected devices to prepare for a tour / presentation

After you have installed the app on your device you will only be able to host your own tour or presentation after you have downloaded the content pf the project locally to your device. This is why you will need an SPS Cloud Account.

1. Start the App on your host device

  • Connect your host device to a WiFi-Hotspot, which has a working internet connection

  • Start the Presenter app on your host device (Smartphone or Tablet)

  • Once app has loaded, click on "Present"

  • If it is the first time you are opening the app, you will be prompted to log in with your credentials. If you do not have an account yet, refer to the Quick Start Guide or the SPS Cloud First Steps. Click on "Start Set up" and let the server start and download your profile

  • After a successful it is starting the tour server and you will see a green network bubble. If this fails, be sure you are connected to a WiFi Network with no restrictions on the Firewall and a working internet connection

  • Click on "Go On". It should now download some thumbnails. When the initialzation is finished, it will lead you to your home screen and you will see all your projects listed.

The server should start and you´ll see a green bubble
After initialization you should see your project page

2. Download Data to the host device

  • Click on the blue dropdown menu button of the project you want to download its data from

  • Select "Download Tourdata"

  • A dialog opens. If you are downloading your project for the very first time, simply hit "Download"

  • Wait for the download to finish. When the download is complete, the download dialog will automatically vanish.

  • For a correct initialization of the project, it is recommended to shut down the app entirely through your OS and re-open it before you start your presentation

3. Check if all your data is complete

  • Go to your home menu on the top left. If you are not a your home screen, hit the back button until you can leave your tour project and leave it.

  • In your Home menu, navigate to "Device Manager"

  • Select the Tab "Content Status"

  • Select the device you want to check on (open the device list with the right menu button or the green network status bubble)

  • Your project download has completed successfully if the status of the project is green.

  • You can now go back to your home page and start the tour by selecting your project

After a successful download, start the tour!

4. Download content to connected devices

To be able to host a tour for connected participants, you will also need to trigger the content download for them. The data is then downloaded to their devices locally. Participants who join your tour cannot do this on their own, as connected devices do not have any connection to your account or a database. The host device will act as remote-control and trigger the download for them.

  • You will know if your participants are connected if the number in the green network bubble matches the number of your participants.

  • Click on the bubble and open the panel to see the connected devices.

  • If nobody else is in your network, you will only see your own device

  • To download content to other devices, simply do the steps two and three again. Downloads will always automatically be triggerd immediately to all connected devices

  • Be sure "Overwrite existing files" is unchecked unless you really want it. Otherwise, the downloader won't skip over existing data of the host device and re-download it completely

  • It is not reccomended to do a simultaneous downloadd for more than 10 devices, as this will lead to heavy network congestion

  • It is usually faster to download in batches. For this, disconnect or turn off devices that are finnished and then connect the next 5-10 devices

Check the Content Status of host device and optional of selected device
